Indexed I/O offers you a secure and easy data transfer option via SFTP. Each project generates their own specific SFTP account and connection credentials ensuring the utmost secure and reliable data transfer environment. We recommend utilizing the SFTP for collections over 2 gigabytes in size as the drag-n-drop quick loader will only upload files 2 gb and smaller.
SFTP Information
As soon as your project is created you will receive an email from Indexed I/O containing important SFTP connection and account information. This message will have the subject "[IndexedIO] Project Created".
This email communication is very important as it contains your SFTP Access information:
- Server: sftp.indexed.io
- Port: 22
- User Name: ######################
- Password: ################
Configuring Your SFTP Client
You will need an SFTP CLIENT to connect to your IIO Drive. If you don't have an SFTP client a quick Google search will yield many popular (and free) options. One of our favorite SFTP clients is Filezilla. (https://filezilla-project.org/) Filezilla is free and is supported in both MAC and Windows operating systems. For the duration of this article, we will utilize Filezilla in our examples.
*Please note that there is a significant difference between SFTP 'Client' and SFTP 'Server'. To connect to your Indexed I/O SFTP account you will need an SFTP 'CLIENT'.
Below is a screen shot of Filezilla, void of any connection information.

First we will start with the 'Quickconnect' option. You will notice 4 entry boxes at the top of the window, just below the tool icon bar. Each entry has a paired value from your email and should be filled out accordingly. Once you have all the information copied into the entry boxes, simply click the 'Quickconnect' button.

You Are Connected!
So now that you are connected you will see a folder named "Uploads" and a "README.TXT" file.
The README file contains the following message and instructions:
Welcome to Indexed I/O's SFTP Service
Please upload your collections under the "uploads" folder.
Your first level under "uploads" must be either archive files (zip, tar, pst, etc)
or a folders that will represent a collection(s).
/uploads/foo.pst
/uploads/bar.zip
/uploads/collection1/
/uploads/collection1/word.doc
/uploads/collection1/excel.xls
The examples above would yield three collections "foo.pst", "bar.zip", and "collection1".
Once you are satisfied with your collections, you can select them from the "IIO Drive" source option available when you are adding data (new collection) to your project.
Happy uploading!

Now you can simply transfer data from your source, local, connected network, or external device connected to your computer, to the 'uploads' folder. This particular SFTP client will provide you with a nice progress bar at the bottom of the application letting you know what the expected upload time will be.
Alternatively, you can save your SFTP credentials under the Site Manager.

You will need to input into the "Host:" field the "Server" value from your email.
You will need to input into the "Port:" field the "Port" value from your email (should always be '22').
You will need to change the "Logon Type" to 'Normal'.
You will need to input into the "User:" field the "User Name" value from your email.
You will need to input into the "Password:" field the "Password" value from your email.
At this point you can click "Connect". This will save your connection to the Site Manager as well as connect you to the SFTP account for your project. I would suggest selecting the new site from your 'My Sites' list and clicking 'Rename'. Rename your connection to the project name. Each project in Indexed I/O has its own unique SFTP connection credentials so each project could be saved in this manner for easier logon and navigation.
